Our Terms & Conditions

1.0. This contract is made between Auckland Express Movers (“the Movers”) and ————————- (“the Customer”). All business undertaken by the movers, including the provision if any, advice, information or other services is undertaken upon and subject to these conditions

2.0. Auckland Express Movers accepts goods for carriage only upon these terms and conditions:

2.1 For all house/office moves and furniture relocation and general freight movement, where prices are quoted based on information provided by the customer, Auckland Express Movers reserves the right to modify prices as a result of incorrect volume, dimension and/or weight or access conditions e.g. stairs or balcony varying to those quoted by the customer at the time of booking. Additional charges may also be incurred for redirection, multi route, additional labour not requested, storage etc. There will be an extra charge of $125.00 for each item for any extra heavy, oversized item such as spa pool, pool tables, double door fridge or any commercial items etc. Note per piano will be $125. It is customer’s responsibility to inform in prior if the move includes any item of such or similar nature.
2.2 If Auckland Express Movers notices that goods are not safe to transport or insufficiently packaged and may cause potential damage to either the item being moved or other items, including the vehicle, the company reserve the right to reject acceptance of the item/s.
2.3 The company withholds the right to delay the customer’s job by 1 hour due to any unforeseen circumstances without waiving any charges. Should the service is delayed more than one hour the customer will be informed and will then come to a mutual decision at company’s discretion.
2.4 The Customer will not give to the Movers for packing, removal, or storage:
a) any article or substance which is, or is likely to be, of a dangerous, corrosive, inflammable, explosive or damaging nature, or anything likely to encourage vermin, bora, or any other pest.
b) Jewellery, watches, trinkets, precious stones or metals, money, deeds, securities, stamps, coins or goods or collections of a similar kind.
c) Prohibited or stolen goods, drugs/medicines, aerosols, paints, firearms, gas cylinders and ammunition.
d) The customers will empty, properly defrost, and clean refrigerators and deep freezers. We are not responsible for the contents.
e) Any animals and their cages or tanks including pets, birds, or fish.
2.5 The Customer will notify Auckland Express Movers if there is not suitable and convenient access to the place from which the goods are to be removed. The Contractor may make an extra charge due to any access restrictions and will not be liable for any goods damaged through the lack of such access. Its customer’s responsibility to provide good, safe and secure parking/access/driveway/pathway etc. to the property for truck and movers.
2.6 Obtain at your own expense, all documents, permits, and licences necessary for the removal to be completed.

3.0 Other Liabilities & Limitations

a) Whilst our team of movers provides highest care and attention to your house and property when carrying out your move, there remains the risk of marking/scuffs to door frames, floors, Vinyl, internal walls and stairwells especially when handling large furniture and white ware items or Kitchen Appliances. Whilst the risk is low, all work carried at either loading or unloading site will be carried out at “Owner’s Risk”.
b) Particularly note that damage caused by vehicles to lawns, driveways, footpaths, underground pipes, cables, sewerage, and other underground installations is not covered. Should our staff be instructed by the property occupier, or any person acting on their behalf to drive, park or manoeuvre vehicles in or near an area where such damage is likely to occur, compliance with such instructions will not in any way involve the Company or its insurers in responsibility for any subsequent damage which may be sustained. Such responsibility will rest solely in the hands of the Owner.

4.0 Carriers Liability 

Items carried by Auckland Express Movers is protected by Carriers Liability Insurance pursuant to the carriage of Goods Act 1979. This cover is free to our clients but has the following limitations: Goods are covered under “Carriers Liability Insurance” whilst in transit if the vehicle is involved in an accident and the furniture is damaged. Then the goods are fully insured by our insurance company. For a more comprehensive cover, please contact your own insurance company. If you are not insured, please call us to discuss further options.

a) If damage does occur intentionally, Auckland Express Movers insurers will manage all claims.
b) All claims will be forwarded onto our insurer’s office with relevant supporting documentation.
c) Any claim must be lodged in writing within 24hours of the occurrence of damage or loss. Claims submitted outside this time will not be accepted.
d) There is no liability for damage if goods have pre-existing damage, inherent damage/vice or where the damage has resulted from insufficient packaging.
e) There will be no liability for damage to owner packed goods. If any glass or fragile item breaks unless factory packed or electrical appliances fail to operate after transit the company does not take any liability.
f) There will be no liability for third party damage – i.e. in the event of an accident where the other party is found at fault, the carrier will not be liable for goods damaged in transit. In this case the customer must claim directly off the insurance company of the other party.
g) In accordance with the Carriage of Goods Act, your claim will only be processed once complete payment of move has been received and acknowledged.

5. Travel Time/ Arrival Time and Estimate and others

a) Our designated arrival time is to be considered as a guide only. Various factors can affect our arrival time such as unexpected delays on previous job(s), delays caused by traffic congestion and/or accidents, roadwork’s and/or closures, streets not on maps and/or incorrect directions supplied by customer, weather, truck breakdown, etc.
b) Typical delays that can be avoided and/or accounted for at time of booking are; difficult vehicle access for loading, stairs, more/extra items than advised at time of booking, extra-large or odd shaped items, distances from truck to house(s), waiting for customers and/or settlement keys, poor packing of items, additional pick up and/or drop off points.
c) Our estimate given for any particular job is provided based upon information supplied by the customer. The customer must ensure they have provided us with as much detail as possible to avoid delays which will cause the job to take longer than estimated. Please be advised that estimated quote is not a fixed quote.
d) We are aware that settlement & access to new properties is sometimes delayed. Please ensure that you consider the dates & times of the possession of your new home when requesting dates for your removal. Prior to booking, please let us know if you need to process your settlement on the day of your move so we can arrange our team schedule for on that day.
e) For intercity or fixed quote, please be advised that the quotation provided for your service is based on the volume during the property visit / based on photos provided / list of items provided. We will charge $150 plus gst, for anything not shown/declared to us. This should be paid thru cash or bank transfer prior to unloading. Proof of payment thru bank transfer should be emailed to us at booking@aucklandexpressmovers.co.nz or should be shown proof to the moving team in order for them to endorse a snapshot of it to the office.

6.0 Payment

6.1 Hourly Rate Jobs
a) All residential, office move and non-credit account moves are strictly cash, or bank transfer payment unless pre-arranged with management.
b) All Credit Card payments (Visa and MasterCard) will be charged a 3% fee to cover Mobile EFTPOS terminal fees and transaction fees.
c) Auckland Express Movers reserve the right to ask for the payment before unloading the last item/items.
d) If the full payment is not made when required then a late fee of $50.00 + GST applies after every 24 hours. This is in addition to what is mentioned in condition (h).
e) All defaulting accounts will be forwarded to third party debt collectors at defaulter’s expense.
6 Misconduct and unacceptable behaviour with any staff member(s) may result in customer’s booking being terminated at the company’s discretion.
f) We require to pay in advance the minimum charge of 1.5 hours to confirm the moving slot/schedule. Proof of payment should be sent to us through email.
g) In case, customer will cancel, please notify us 7 days prior to your moving date to get the refund for initial payment. If customer request to change the date for the move, customer should notify us within 48 hours prior to moving date otherwise, we considered it cancelled and initial payment is considered as cancellation fee which is non-refundable and non-transferable. Changes for moving date and time is subject to availability.
h) Full payment is required once the job has been completed. Proof of payment should be shown to the team before leaving the property. Otherwise, if the person paying is not on site, we will charge with the hourly rate while the team is waiting at the property for payment to be done.
I) Any sort or refunds if done will be strictly put into the same bank account where the funds came from.
 

6.2 Fixed Quote Jobs

a) All residential and non-credit account moves are strictly cash, or bank transfer payment unless pre-arranged with management.
b) All Credit Card payments (Visa and MasterCard) will be charged a 3% fee to cover Mobile EFTPOS terminal fees and transaction fees.
c) Auckland Express Movers reserve the right to ask for the payment before unloading the last item/items.
d) If the full payment is not made when required then a late fee of $50.00 + GST applies after every 24 hours. This is in addition to what is mentioned in condition (h).
e) All defaulting accounts will be forwarded to third party debt collectors at defaulter’s expense.

f) We require a 50% initial payment prior to loading your moving contents and full payment is required once we are at the drop off address to unload. Proof of payment should be shown to the movers and or send via email at booking@aucklandexpressmovers.co.nz.
g) In case, customer will cancel, please notify us 7 days prior to your moving date to get the refund for initial payment. If customer request to change the date for the move, customer should notify us within 48 hours prior to moving date otherwise, we considered it cancelled and initial payment is considered as cancellation fee which is non-refundable and non-transferable. Changes for moving date and time is subject to availability.
h) If the person paying is not on site, we will charge for $100 per hour plus gst waiting at the property for payment to be done.
i) Waiting time on Delivery – We are aware that settlement & access to new properties is sometimes delayed. As a result of any delay, we reserve the right to charge a waiting fee of $200.00 per hour which will be payable prior to unloading via cash or bank transfer.
Please email to us the proof of payment and or show proof of payment to our team so they can forward it to the office. Please ensure that you consider the dates & times of the possession of your new home when requesting dates for your removal.
j) Any sort or refunds if done will be strictly put into the same bank account where the funds came from.
